Homedepot.com: A Valuable Media Asset

Home Depot — a store I despise because of its pathetic customer service — said it will begin selling advertising on its Web site as the retailer tries to tap into the strong demand for Internet ads, the Wall Street Journal reports. I’m sure we’ll see a lot more of this in the future. The reality is that Homedepot.com is full of valuable content and an aggregator a very specific, desired audience. What troubles me is that while Home Depot taps into strong demand for Internet ads, its customers who enabled the extra revenue stream remain suckers, as they likely will reap no rewards.
