Yeah, I’m not kidding. AdAge reports:
The Golden Arches picked up the $1,600 cost of printing report-card jackets for the 2007-2008 school year in Seminole County, Fla., in exchange for a Happy Meal coupon on the card’s cover. With 27,000 elementary school kids taking their report-card jackets home to be signed three or four times a year, that’s less than 2 cents per impression.
I love McDonald’s — I really do. In fact, I really, really love the Big Mac — it’s my guilty indulgence, and it’s fair to say I’m addicted. I also love the fries and vanilla milkshakes. But I really don’t love the idea of my guilty indulgence and addiction so closely associated — if not meddling — with my kid’s academic performance and reporting thereof. Am I making a big deal out of nothing? My gut — bulging because of too many Big Macs and other vices — says no.
