Good quote (thanks VCMike) on passion from Spencer E. Ante’s BusinessWeek analysis titled Startups in a Downturn:

Talk to the entrepreneurs who built great companies during bad times, and they’ll tell you there are a number of lessons that help explain their success. Atop the list: Founders of the most successful companies are motivated less by the lure of riches than the dream to solve an important problem and benefit the world.

I agree. As I frequently say, passion matters.

    I agree too. There are so many things you CAN do, but finding something you're passionate about is the most important component of what you end up doing for your job, otherwise you're just getting through the day. It's amazing the difference in my attitude now that I have a job that I love over my attitude 2 years ago when I had a job, but I wasn't really using my education or learning anything at work(filing does not require too much skill-ha!)

    Absolutely agree. Passion is a huge driving force behind a call to action. It creates a strong, personal drive that goes beyond materialism. It definitely matters and can be reflected in the quality/type of work we produce.
