My Vacation Cancelled

My dad and I have a sailboat and it was de-masted today in a gale near the Bahamas, on the eve of our nonstop, offshore delivery of the boat from Ft. Lauderdale to New York. This is a very serious incident and fortunately nobody was hurt. However, there is serious damage to the boat so it is going nowhere indefinitely. Obviously, the picture above was taken before the incident.

I was not on the boat, but was scheduled to fly from NYC to Ft. Lauderdale Thursday night with some of our crew. Oh well…back to the office for me. At least the mast didn’t split while we were hundreds of miles offshore. Hopefully we’ll get through the insurance business and major repairs with a minimum of hassle. We’re aiming to get the boat back up north before Hurricane season.
