How to get the girl? Buy her flowers!

Whether single or in a relationship, flowers are guaranteed to sweep girls off their feet. Trust me, and I’m here to help this Valentine’s Day.

Specifically, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM is celebrating its new romantic bouquet line with Patti Stanger, the Millionaire Matchmaker, by giving one of my readers a $50 gift certificate. To enter the contest, leave a comment indicating what is the best flower to get the girl. Roses? Irises? Tulips? Other? Leave your comment by Friday, February 12, 2010. I’ll announce the winner on Valentine’s Day.

BONUS: all can take advantage of a 15% discount promotion code — “Patti15″ — which can be used up until February 14, 2010.  Additionally, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM  is offering Valentine’s Day free shipping or no service charge. There’s no excuse to not get the girl.

Disclosure: In addition to this giveaway, I’m reviewing the “Patti Stanger Bouquet”. Provided the perishable nature of fresh flowers, I’m not sure if I’ll return them when I’m finished.

Sunflowers...they're bright, beautiful, and I can't think of anyone that doesn't like them :)
  • And you only need one to make a big impact.
  • I really like lilcas. Flower shops don't usually sell those though. Roses are always good, but different kinds of flowers show more thought. I liked the Peruvian Lily Bouquet and the Katharina Roses best out of the ones on the site :)

Since you stated the best flower to get a girl, you did not state any specific reason for the flower. Sure it's Valentine's Day but not everyone is going to be in a loving mood. Therefore here are my choices.

The typical theme is as follows:

    Yellow (rose, etc.) - Friendship
    Orange - yearning/missing
    Red/Pink - Love

Obscure colors, lavender, peach, etc. says: "Hey I tried to think different"

Then there are the "Spike TV" like thoughts. For an ex-girlfriend or wife:
Titan Arum - aka Corpse Flower. Nothing says "over with" than that of the smell of rotting meat. Yep, its dead alright

Personally, I think its more romantic to pick flowers if its an option. Shows a lot more thought than the typical "here's a rose!." I buy flowers for my wife from time to time, but they have to be strange mixtures of things. E.g., Stargazer Lillies with say ONE purple rose an orchid or two and *maybe* just maybe some daisies. I think variety is better however, its all up to the male not a "top 10 list"
  • Aeonjo: I think you're the winner. Please contact me in the about form of my blog so I can pass along your email address to 800 flowers. Everyone else, sorry.
  • I remember one time -- when I was a kid -- picking flowers from someone's backyard garden, on the way to meet a date.

I think that lilies are the best.
