One of the biggest, overnight sensations in mainstream media and marketing circles has been mommy bloggers. They’ve stirred up a hurricane of hype and controversy, but now it’s time for daddies to enjoy the spotlight.
Which is why I’m delighted to announce my participation in Sony Electronics’ DigiDads Project. Over the next few months, several tech-savvy daddy bloggers, including me, are going to test some of Sony’s gear and share our experiences with you.
Why did I join? The project is relevant to me: First, I work as a marketer at a technology start-up. Second, I frequently write about media and technology, including on this blog. Third, I’m a relatively new dad, and this status influences everything about me. Everything I do eventually ties into better parenting strategies.
Also, my family goes through a lot of gadgets to create photos and videos of our life. We share our works with friends and family via the Internet, and we enjoy them privately in one of the coolest digital media rooms (which I curate constantly). We love gadgets, so we thought it would be fun to test-drive some of Sony’s latest gizmos.
For the record, we’re only reviewing Sony products, then giving them back. We like trying cool new stuff. Even more, we like providing honest, useful feedback on what’s cool and what’s not. There’s no payola here. I’m independent, and so are my fellow daddy bloggers in the Sony DigiDads Project.

About time for daddy bloggers. So now should I start a whole thing around DINK bloggers?

Thanks for sharing, Max. I have a question — actually, a 2-part question.
Is the assumption here that Dads are more likely than Moms to be responsible for docummenting a family's history?
If so, is that because Dads are more gizmo/CE-friendly or for some other reason?

That's a good question. I don't know the answer. In my family, the mom and
dad both document our family history via multimedia, though in different
styles. While we both publish a lot, my wife tends to share a more liberal
selection of digital artifacts (photos and video) on Facebook and email,
while I tend to share more selectively (mainly stories) on my blog and
Twitter, which has the ancillary effect of syndicating to Facebook. I think
dad's in general are more gizmo/CE friendly, but I also think mommy bloggers
are more gizmo/CE savvy than moms who are not bloggers.
I'll ask Sony to chime in here..

Lenellis–We at Sony Electronics think moms and dads are equally capable of documenting their family history using technology. There will be several assignments the DigiDads will take on and each dad will bring their own unique perspective. We came up with fun, family oriented experiences which could be documented using the latest Sony technology.

As a new mom (and, no, not a mommy blogger thank you very much) I do not have the time, nor the interest, to do the research on the latest/greatest gadgets. However, I like being highly efficient these days so I will be very interested to have you to the work for me! : )
