I’m Going To Be a Dad!

June 6, 2006 · Comments

HOLY MOLY! I’m extremely happy, excited and scared to announce that my wife Laura is pregnant with our first kid. Baby Kalehoff is 13 weeks old. Laura and I have known for a few weeks, but we waited to disclose the news widely until the obligatory 12-week prenatal test results arrived and suggested that the fetus is healthy and on track.

This event is quickly changing our lives in a big way, but I have to admit I’m still trying to digest the news. I’m anxious and curious to see how our lives will change, and I’m sure it will be reflected here on AttentionMax (and I’m sure a baby blog is an inevitable expression platform and interactive scrapbook for family and close friends). I have a million thoughts running through my head right now. But for now, I’ll end this post with an open call for tips on how to be a successful parent. This is completely new territory for me.

Oh…Laura says Baby Kalehoff has a big head, just like me! What do you think? (Click on the image for hi-res photo). We don’t know what the sex is, and we don’t plan on finding out until birth.

Max, this is wonderful news! You will be amazed at the changes in your life. I absolutely adore my daughter who is now sixteen, and I somewhat envy the fact that you are at the starting line! Enjoy and cherish the time and the changes.

My tips of the day Maxie, is 'be there and with love'. As for you and Laura, support one another in your parental decisions. You'll be right! Love you so much and feel full of excitement as well. mom brown

Very exciting stuff... As for how your life will change... you have no idea just how much, good luck :-). All kidding aside, kids are amazing, a lot of work, but a ton of fun once they sleep through the night, which takes about 6-8 weeks. Enjoy sleep now that part of your life will never be the same.
  • I assume you'll be at WOMMA - let me buy you a drink! Congratulations!
  • Max, congratulations to both you and Laura. That's wonderful news.

We share being future parents in common now, as my wife Karin is 23 weeks pregnant and also expecting our first child.
